Great game but not perfect

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 2 October 2007 06:54 (A review of BioShock)

I've been waiting for this game since I saw it in Game Informer about two years ago and when that day finally came I was as happy as a squirrel with a sack of nuts.
I started the game and was amazed by the pure eye candy that was the graphics; the water effects looked better then any other game I've played before, level textures were great, and the only real graphics that weren't awesome was the faces.
As I continued on I started to notice what was the real appeal that drew me in to System Shock and F.E.A.R. which was the very atmospheric and creepy music and sound effects which scared me a couple times and the voice acting was also awesome and gave all the characters real depth.
The guns in the game felt great even though they were really standard for a FPS and the addition of Plasmids (genetic power ups that gave you lightning, fire, ice, telekinesis. etc.) were great at first but became a novelty pretty quick because I was really only using the lightning bolt the majority of the time.
Story is what kept me going (as it should have 'cause it is a single player game only) and getting the good ending, while short, was great and rewarding.
Over all it's a great game but not as great as say Half-Life 2 but a must buy/play none the less.

Rammstein as their very best!

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 29 September 2007 09:42 (A review of Reise, Reise)

Looking back at Rammstein previous albums, Reise, Reise is the one I keep suggesting to people when they want to know how Rammstein sounds.
Reise, Reise starts the album with a slower but powerful song that reminds me of the song 'Rammstein' from Herzeleid.
Mein Teil is a creepy song both lyrically and musically that is about a true story of a cannibal.
Dalai Lama is another lyrically creepy but musically slows down a bit.
Keine Lust is my favorite song on the album; it's fast, hard, lyrically funny (the music video is a must see too).
Los is a very interesting piece; its acoustic, very simple and a great song to chill out to.
Amerika is catchy song that criticises America capitalism in the world and the war in Iraq.
Moskau is another catchy song but bit more like Rammstein 'cause the lyrics are about Moscow being a whore.
Morgenstern is another lyrically Rammstein, energetic, and very entertaining.
Stein um Stein is creepy too and has a cool little part near the end with Till singing "Leibholz Ramm... Stein!"
Ohne Dich was meant to be on Mutter but didn't fit and its a good thing 'cause it fits perfectly here.
Amour is much like "Ohne Dich" and bring a great ending to the album and shows the band has really matured.

Metal at its best

Posted : 13 years ago on 19 May 2007 11:10 (A review of Greatest Hits: Back to the Start (Limited Edition))

When talking about metal I alway bring up three bands; Black Sabbath, Slayer, and Megadeth.
"Back to the Start" starts with "Holy Wars..." about suicide bombing, "Sweating Bullets" about a guy suffering with dissociative identity disorder, "Kill the King" about corruption in government, to the end with "Prince of Darkness" which of course is about Lucifer; all of them bringing the heavy riffs, lyrics and all around style that makes Megadeth one of the kings of metal and showcasing their best songs over the years.

Laughter is not heathly here, its deadly

Posted : 13 years ago on 19 May 2007 10:34 (A review of Ask A Ninja Vol. 1)

If there has ever been a successful IPTV show that was not made by ex TechTV hosts, its been Ask A Ninja.

If you didn't know what Ask A Ninja is about, its about a ninja that answers questions sent in by viewer about ninjas.
Questions range from where do ninjas get their uniforms, are there any ninja conventions, and do they like standing in line.

With great writing from Doug and Kent, the ninjas exaggerated hand gestures and telling of how awesome ninja's are in a very funny way that can be enjoyed by anyone.

The DVD is a great way to start, if you haven't been keeping up with the show.
